Windscreen cover

Helps to cover the cost of fixing or replacing your windscreen

What is car windscreen cover?

If your windscreen gets damaged, we can help cover the cost of fixing it. It could be something minor such as repairing a small chip, or a bigger job like replacing a cracked windscreen.

But whether the glass in your car windscreen is accidentally damaged or broken, our cover can help you get it repaired or replaced. And it can also cover repairs of associated scratches on your car’s bodywork.

How does it work?

If your car has windscreen damage, or you need to replace it altogether, you can take your car to one of our approved repairers, or a repairer of your choice. You’ll need to pay an excess for the repair, but we’ll cover the rest if you choose an approved repairer.

Even minor damage to your car windscreen should be fixed as soon as possible, as it can worsen over time. Depending on which car insurance policy you have with us, you might already have windscreen cover included.

Got Standard or Plus Comprehensive car insurance?

Good news. Your Comprehensive policy already covers you for accidental damage to your windscreen. We know this is a common problem for drivers, so we consider it essential for our fully Comprehensive policy.

Got Essentials Comprehensive car insurance?

Our Essentials policy doesn’t include windscreen insurance cover as standard.

Your excess fee

When you make a claim for damage to your car windscreen, you’ll need to pay an excess. The amount you pay will depend on which policy you have and who carries out the repairs.

Standard & Plus Comprehensive policy

If you have a Standard or Plus Comprehensive policy and use one of our approved repairers, you’ll pay:

  • £10 if the screen needs a repair
  • £75 if the screen needs to be replaced
  • We’ll cover the rest

If you use an unapproved windscreen repairer, you’ll pay:

  • £25 if the screen needs a repair
  • £100 if the screen needs to be replaced
  • We’ll pay the next £150, but if that doesn’t cover it, you’ll need to pay the rest

What’s not covered?

Our windscreen cover doesn’t pay for:

  • Deliberate damage caused to your windscreen by anybody who’s insured by the policy
  • Damage to the plastic sunroof, roof panel, foldable roof or removable hood on your convertible car
  • The repair of general wear and tear

Will it affect my no claims discount?

No. There’s no need to worry if you need to make a claim for windscreen damage, it doesn’t affect your no claims discount.
